Children of the Khorne part 4: The beast of metal and blood

On pitsoned leggs it came, roaring with the fury of bound deamons.

A Deamonsmith acompanied it, he told me he was send by glorious Khorne and pledged fealty to me and my cause.

He swore to me he could build more machines of metal, flesh and warpspawn and all he asked in return were the souls of slain victims, I did not deny him.

Months of nothing and now 2 entries in a row, must be something I ate...

I always had a thing for Defilers ever since they came out 10 or so years ago, it has remained a favorite of mine.
So logically a new one would find it's way into my army, there was no other way.

These things can ditch out a world of hurt and can take some in return, if they were good before they became even better now.

It has a nice battlecannon wich can make stuff go 'splut' from a distance and 2 great fat chunky claws to cut things up and I haven't even started on the heavy flamer and the reaper cannon.. juicy.

One of it's claws is posed as if about to strike something unfortunate and I added some spikes and chains along with a few Khorne glyfs to show it's allegiancy.

This brings me now to 750 points worth of Chaos Space Marines painted.
Next will be a nice unit of Raptor: jumpinfantery.
These will be the main part of the 1000 points force I've got planned.

Game on!!!

Children of the Khorne part 3: Gatherings

And as I was promised, more flocked to my banner.

We butchered in the name of the Bloodgod all who dared to defy us, taking their skulls and offering their souls to Khorne.

It's been a while since my last post, truth is I couldn't be arsed to put paint on my miniatures but I seem to have found my 'drive' again.
Also december was quiet a busy month work-wise and I wasn't able to paint anyway since the Missus banned my 'little guys' and paints to The Dungheap during the festive days, must be a chick thing.

Next in line are 10 more Khorne berzerkers and a Rhino.
Personally I believe that every aspiring champion 'tunes' his, or her, Rhino to their own taste and this geezer has a thing for skulls, spikes and chains.
This unit has a minor conversion too, I gave the champion 2 close combat weapons and took a suitable head from a Space Wolf sprue.
He's positioned as if he's screaming his rage to the heavens.

A good thing in this period on 'non-brushing' is that I had time to think about my army, initially I wanted it to be a 100% close combat army but this just doesn't work.
A defiler (wich is in it's final stages of painting) was quickly added along with some Terminators and Raptors.
Further planned are an Aegis Defence Line (basecoated) and a small unit of heavyweapons Havocs (ordered).
2 units of Chaos Cultists (cannonfodder), a flyer (being converted) and a unit of Chosen are in the pipeline, not to mention the new Deamons who came out this weekend who will serve as allies.

For the meanwhile I'll concentrate on the Defiler since this will bring my force up to a neat 750 points.

Laters all!!!!

Children of the Khorne part 2: Rising trough the ranks

As I continued my pilgrimage in name of the Bloodgod, I encountered on the deamonworld of Khalaxiss a warband of Berzerkers.

Their champion issued a challenge wich I gladly accepted.

Screaming the name of my Lord I attacked him with glorious anger and blisfull hate and as I held his severed head aloft and smeared his blood over my face I knew Khorne had marked my out for greatness...

Finally my Khorne army starts to take shape.
A fair few issues arrose between now and my last 40K post, hence the reason it took me so long to get another thing done.
1/ Them Khorne dudes are SMOTHERED in detail at times, rather time consuming.
2/ It took me a while to find a satisfying way to paint red the easy way, couldn't find it so it was back to basics.
3/ What to take? I had a few testgames and one of my earlier options was dropped (more on that later).
4/ Work!!! I found a job last month and whilst it's very fun and it pays well, it took me a while to settle in.

So now I have 10 neatly painted Khorne Berzerkers with a Champion, thanks to my Chaos Lord having the Mark of Khorne I can take these guys as Troop choices instead of elites.
I know they cost me a fair deal in points but when they get to grips with the enemy they are more than worth it, you just can't argue with 4 strength 5 attacks a piece when they charge....

To increase their survivability and to help them cross the battlefield more swiftly I gave them a Rhino APC.
It's tuned up a bit with nasty spikes, a dangerous looking fender and a dirgecaster wich prevents enemy troops close by to take snapshots at you.
Smokelaunchers and a Stormbolter were mounted too to give me hand in battle.

Next up are 10 more Berzerkers with another Rhino, this vehicle will be more baroque in appearance since I believe that every champion decorates his APC to his, or her, own taste.

March will see the launch of a small 2 month campaign in our gamingclub and I've entered with my 'maniacs'.
This will be split up in 3 parts: one of 750 points, one of 1000 and a 1250 points one.
Originally I wanted 10 Raptors (jump infantery) in the army but I dropped them in favour of a Defiler after I've spend 3 rounds kicking dents in an Ork Deffdread last game.
I REALLY need something that can kill armour but the Raptors will come back for the 1000 point stage of the campaign.

Hope you like these and see you next year, have a merry x-mas and a happy new year everyone!!!

And second over the finish line issss: JUNGLE BUNNY!!!!

And the race is over, after a few false starts (the blogspot votings didn't work properly) I can proudly claim second place in the scratchbuild Deathroller competition.
The price: a set of custom made dice.

I voiced my hopes to end in the top 5, I never expected top 3 tho so you can all understand I'm a happy person.

The entry that did won was more than deserved, it was a good piece with a nice and crisp paintjob.

Gamingbuddy Tomsche, who brought this competition under my attention finished 6th.
The poor lad really wanted those dice and if I had won, I would've given them to him gladly.

Here's the link to the competition where you can find all the entries, the winner is nr 5, Tomsche nr 1 and me nr 2 http://www.talkfantasyfootball.org/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=37334

And here he is, one more time in his full glory

Children of the Khorne part 1: The fall from grace

And so began my journey on the path to eternal glory and life immortal.

The baying of hellish hounds, the wailing of souls forever in torment and the chanting of deamons accompanied me as I knelt before the pile of skulls in the pool of blood that I had created in worship and so I pledged my allegiance to Lord Khorne.

Last saturday TSA, our gamingclub, hosted it's annual fair: Crisis.
I'll leave out all the details of it's glory, know that it was by far beter than the previous editions, but know that I went there with a 'mission'.

Ever since Warhammer 40K's 6'th edetion came out it has got me in it's grip, that game is fun again and so my Necrons came out of their stasis crypts to retake the galaxy.
At least they tried, they got beaten back time and again by Orks and Chaos Marines.
I'm not giving up on them, it's a gorgeous army and one I fully intend on expanding in the future but Chaos has me in it's sway.

In fact, Chaos always had since my ever first 40K army was an all female Slaanesh Marine force.
This time I'm throwing in my lot with the aggresive berzerkers of the bloodgod Khorne.

First of the paintingtable was Vrakûll, my Chaos Lord and thanks to his mark of Khorne he can take the aforementioned Berzerkers as troops.
I'm intending to build this army as close combat orientated as possible, how else can you chop peoples heads of if you blow them to bits from afar.

The obvious colours were ofcourse red and brass, I added some parts in plain iron and gave an extra highlighting to the leering deamonface on his shoulderpad with a purple tongue for contrast.
The skullbase was a must, Black Cat produces them cheap and to a fairly good quality.

Next up will be a unit of 12 Khorne Berzerkers, followed by a second unit of these bloodthirtsy maniacs and a unit of Raptors wich brings me to a nice 650 points worth of carnage.

The Marines of Hatred Eternal shall aid in burning the galaxy.

BLOOD FOR THE BLOODGOD, SKULLS FOR THE SKULLTHRONE!!!!!!

Uhm, Sarge? I don't think that's a giant bat..

Today my Necrons finally take to the skies thanks to this nice Doom Scythe.

Ever since the model came out I had to have one, it's the coolest flyer EVER next to the Ork plane and the more I read it's stats, the more I want to field it.
Tomorrow it'll get it's chance to prove it's worth and I must say I have high hopes.

This GW kit can build you 1 out of 2 varieties, either the Night Scythe or the Doom Scythe.
The former is a transport with a capacity of 15 infantery, 7 jump infantery or 5 jetbikes (they beam them down) and the latter is a deathdealer pure and simpel.

While it's secondairy weapons are nice ( a twin linked tesla destructor) it's main one is fingerlicking groovy: The Deathray.... This puppy shoots out a beam and dissolves nearly anything underneat it.
Pretty cool but it gets better, if you hit a unit with it, the WHOLE unit gets rammed up the butt.
Me likes a LOT!!

The trusted 3-B colourscheme was applied as usual and works really well but I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

It wasn't until later that I noticed that I had it's stem mounted wrong on the base but this is more than alright, it makes it look as if the Scythe is in the middle of an attack run.

See you soon with some more Necron goodness..

The thing emerges

In may I posted part 13 of the ARAM and at the end I posted a 'teaser' for my Necrons of sorts http://makaison.blogspot.be/2012/05/regiment-month-part-13-arise-my-minions.html

So now nearly 6 months later it's time for me to delever the goods so to speak.
The main reason why it took such a long time was that I simply knew what colours to paint it in but not to sure in wich way (more blue, less blue,.....) and since it's such a nice mini from Forgeworld I wanted to do it justice even though it's fairly inexpencive to their standards.

Necron? Forge World? Inexpencive?.....
Some of you might have been checking the site http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/ and prolly have been guessing right, I'm talking about the Tomb Stalker.

Ever since it came out it has been a favorite of mine in my most beloved army and I simply knew I must have one one day.

I blamed GW for giving up on their clear green plastic rods used in the Necron weapons but the more I look at it, the more I fancy repainting them all on all my older miniatures wich I will start to do in the near future.

I'm planning on regularly adding more models to the force, just like Tomsche is a nutter for Chaos Dwarfs, I have a  deep fondness for the Necrons.

I hope you like him and see you next time with more roboty nastyness..
